This Sunday our Men's Junior team will be aiming to write themselves into the St. Lawrence's history books as they seek to retain the Junior Championship for the very first time in Lawrence's 40 year history.
A very long wait of 23 years came to an end in May this year as the lads picked up the delayed 2020 Championship trophy and they will be doing their very best to keep hold of the Jimmy McKnight memorial at least for a full year this time!
The Lawrence's men have been in rare form on the way to May's first Championship win and have carried that over to this season with impressive displays in both the league campaign, finishing runners up to John Mitchell's and the 2021 Championship.
Eyes were raised when this year's Championship draw was made with Lawrence's in a tough group with St. Brendan's and last year's finalists St. Peter's but the Lawries came through top of the group with a draw against a very strong St. Brendan's team and another hard fought win over St. Peter's.
Having topped the group the lads faced the toughest of semi finals, with John Mitchell's surprisingly finishing second in their group, the two teams battled it out at Turn Moss in a fantastic game of brilliant scores with Lawrence's just edging it by a single point. The game was a great advert for Junior football in the county.
That win set-up Sunday's final with surprise package Wolfe Tones who dispatched St. Peter's in the other semi-final.
The Liverpool men have been steadily improving all season and will no doubt will be a stern test for our lads in the final.
Good luck lads, you can do it!
