Firstly, a huge thanks to you all for entering the St Lawrence’s World Cup 2026 Predictor Competition. Not only are you in with the chance of winning a super cash prize or a hotel stay with dinner but you are also supporting St Lawrence’s Gaelic Football teams here in Manchester and it is very much appreciated.

 

We had 185 entrants in total, meaning we have £925 in the Prize fund to be distributed amongst the top 3 places come the end of the tournament.

 

Now that the Group Stage has finished, we can see that that there were very few shocks in terms of who people predicted would be a group winner with just Colombia beating Portugal to top spot in Group K stopping 32 of our 185 entrants predicting all 12 groups correctly and banking those bonus 50 points – A proper coupon buster!

 
In the Group Stage there have been 215 goals scored in the 72 group games (2.99 goals per game) which is a much higher average per game than in previous tournaments. As a result, already 50 people have aimed too low with their total number of goals scored prediction and it looks likely that many more will fall out of the running for those bonus 50 points during the knockout stage.
 

Messi is the tournament's current top scorer on 6 goals. Only 2 of the 185 entrants opted for Messi to be the Golden Boot Winner with the rest of you perhaps writing him off a little too soon but of course lots of games still to be played and with Mbappe (4), Haaland (4), Dembele (4), Vinny Jnr (4) and Kane (3) it could all change very quickly.
