Fresh from last weekend's opening round win over Wolfe Tones, our men's junior team are back in action in Liverpool this Sunday.
After seeing off the Merseysider's challenge last Sunday in an entertaining 2-07 to 0-08 point win the Lawries will go into this fixture against St. Brendan's with every confidence.
After the long lay-off it was great to see the lads back in action last week but unfortunately due to local restrictions in Liverpool, NO SPECTATORS are allowed at this weekend's matches.
Be sure to follow the match on Facebook and Twitter for updates after the throw-in.
Manager, Dan Mellett, was delighted to have a few debutants last weekend with Conall Gormley proving himself to be a commanding presence at full-back and it was hard to believe it was his first game for over 7 years!
It was also a special occasion for young Ciaran Davitt who graduated to the first team for the first time after coming through the St. Lawrence's underage set-up. He had a fantastic game at half-back and certainly takes after his old man in tenacious tackling, although we think his speed must come from the mother's side!
Honorable mentions also to Eamon McElroy who debuted in goal and kept his first clean sheet and assisted with some great kick-outs and also to two more underage graduates, Declan Connelly and Dominic May who have really come of age in the last two seasons.
Underage development has always been at the heart of this club and it was great to have 3 more youngsters at training this week from the U18s set-up, Sean Gavin, Connan Murphy and Ben Lyons all look like they could be involved in the near future. Well done to the lads and their coaches for making the step up.
Our opponents on Sunday, St. Brendan's got off to a winning start last week defeating St. Peter's by a single point and our lads know they will face a much sterner test this Sunday without home advantage.
Then all eyes will turn to next weekend's huge clash with Junior title rivals St. Peter's.
Again, we must be clear in our message this weekend that no spectators can attend this weekend's games, to do so would place the club under the sanction of the Co. Board so please stick to the rules and stay safe.
Please God we will be all back watching again in the very near future,
GRMA.
